Why use a simulator?

It necessary to have atleast some practical experience for success in exam or performing your job as a Cisco ® engineer. What are the installation steps?

Unzip (extract) the downloaded file to a temporary folder using WinZip or any other extraction utility for archives compressed in .zip format. Click on the Setup.exe and follow the instructions on the screen. The installation process will automatically extract all files and install Sem-Sim Router Simulator to your system. How do I know if the installation is successful?

I get "Unable to Access Database" error. What should I do?

Please check the ReadMe.txt file in the folder where you installed Sem-Sim.

I get "The Application encountered an error. Behavior maybe unpredictable." error. What should I do?

This generally serves as a warning. If Sem-Sim is working seemingly correctly after this, there should be no problem. The purpose is just to warn our technical team of an inappropriate optimization or a potential problem. Help us further improve Sem-Sim by informing our technical staff of the error at [email protected]. Please include the following:

* Contents of ErrorLog.txt

* The OS you are running on (i.e. Windows 98, NT 4.0, etc.)..

* Detailed description of the problem.

* Detailed steps to reproduce the problem, if possible.

* The version of the product you are using.

How can I resolve "run time error 430"?

This is probably because you do not have MDAC 2.1 or newer version on your computer. MDAC is a standard data access component that is installed on all new systems. Perhaps you uninstalled some software that wrongly uninstalled MDAC from your machine. MDAC is distributed free by Microsoft and ships with internet explorer 5 and above, XP, windows 2000.
Please resolve this by going to Microsoft's site and installing MDAC (2.8 is latest version). This will be useful not just for Sem-Sim, but for a lot of other softwares also, since it is assumed to be a standard pre-installed component on most systems.
